Hard to think of these little ones as dust and ashes, but maybe Momma needs them to participate in this seasonal rhythm because I need to have someone to follow. Jesus said that the kingdom belongs to such as these. Laine was terrified to get ashes on his head, and even as I assured him that it was safe and didn't hurt, I wondered if I shouldn't be just a little terrified myself. To hear that I will return to the ashes I rose out of is not exactly the warm fuzzy message you look for at church. This Lent, I am going to proceed with caution. This is no ordinary observance. This is no ordinary life. I am asking God to change me.
